“Bello? Bello?” Kevin shouted into the phone. He waited a long time before hanging up. He turned to the crowd of Minions who’d formed around him.

“Buddies! La polenta! La stona!” Then he narrowed his eyes at Otto. “Otto! A donde la stona?”

Otto clenched his teeth. If only he could remember where that birthday party was or who he’d traded the Stone with. It felt as if it had happened a hundred years ago. It all seemed like a blur.

The Minions went to work. Stuart began a relentless interrogation of Otto, asking him where he was and what he was doing when he last saw the Stone. Stuart aimed a blinding light into Otto’s eyes, trying to get out any secrets Otto might’ve been hiding.

Meanwhile, Bob pulled out his pencil and sketch pad. He drew different sketches according to what Otto said, but none of them were right. He drew Gene Simmons from KISS. Otto shook his head no. Stuart got so frustrated he jumped on top of Otto and tried to knock some sense into him. Kevin had to step in and pull him off.

“La, la, la, la,” Kevin yelled, accidentally shaking Otto even harder. “Stuart, calma.”

Finally, Bob used Otto’s description to draw a picture of an eight-year-old boy. Bob had seen the kid around before and had a real gut instinct about this guy. Something was up with the kid. What kind of monster gives away their googly-eyed rock?

Bob flipped the drawing around and showed Otto.

“Si le! La popura!” Otto yelled. “Si le! Si le!”

Bob smiled. He’d hit the nail on the head.

It was just who he thought it was.
